Lucas Henningsen of Rice Lake, WI To Perform with the Ripon College Symphonic Wind Ensemble, April 13

2014 Apr 4

Lucas Henningsen, a Junior Chemistry-Biology major at Ripon College from Rice Lake, WI, will perform with the Ripon College Symphonic Wind Ensemble under the direction of Carl Rath, April 13. Henningsen is the child of Dr. and Mrs. David J. Henningsen of Rice Lake, WI.

The concert will begin at 3:15 p.m. in Demmer Recital Hall, C.J. Rodman Center for the Arts, on the Ripon College campus. Admission to the concert is free.

Concert selections include "Americans We," a march by Henry Fillmore, "Festival Prelude," by Alfred Reed, "Longing For Sunrise," by Daniel Baldwin, "impulse," by Bradley Meholick; and "Film Music Suite," by Francis Clifford. "Film Music Suite" is a crowd-pleaser in four movements, each of which highlights a different type of music used in films. "Horror" brings to mind the music heard in early classics, such as "Frankenstein." "Romance" is very melodic and touches the heart. "Comedy" sounds like circus music, and "Adventure" will bring to mind the music heard in Indiana Jones films.

Soloists will include Zach Conners '15 of Hollandale, Wis., on flute; Alex Patza '15 of Shiocton, Wis., on alto sax; Sophie Klingenberger '14 of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on horn; and Noah DeBruyn '17 of Green Bay Wis., on oboe.
