Katie Biedler, a student at Ripon College from Sauk Rapids, MN, has qualified to compete at the American Forensic Association (AFA) Nationals in Communication Analysis. Nationals will be held in Phoenix, Arizona, April 4-7, 2014.
Communication Analysis is an individual event in which the speaker has ten minutes to present the speech. The speech structure usually consists of an introduction, the presentation of a rhetorical artifact, a discussion of a communication theory or model, application of the communication theory to the artifact, implications of that analysis, and a conclusion.
To qualify for Nationals, one must be at least a part-time student at a two or four-year college and must final in three legs (or separate tournaments) in a category at the AFA competitions with eight or less points.
Biedler is the child of Patricia Bechtold of Sauk Rapids, MN.
