Charlotte Lee of Vancouver Honored at 2013 Ripon College Awards Convocation

Charlotte Lee, a Senior Theatre and History major from Vancouver, WA was named the recipient of the 2013 Lucy Smith Morris Shakespeare Prize; Achievement Award In History; Theatre Achievement Award; Admission Office Student Volunteer Senior Excellence Award during the annual Awards Convocation held April 17, 2013.

The Lucy Smith Morris Endowment entails a cash award given to the student who has done the most outstanding work in the study of Shakespeare. Lucy Smith Morris, founder and first president of the Wisconsin Federation of Women's Clubs (WFWC), was an authority on Shakespearian drama, writing a study pamphlet on the subject that became a guide to other study clubs and later college classes. In 1935 she established the Lucy Smith Morris Shakespeare Prize for a Ripon College student. Members of the WFWC continued support of this prize until 2008 when it was endowed. The Achievement Award in History entails a cash award given to seniors for distinction in the work of the history depart- ment. The Theatre Achievement Award entails inscription on the departmental plaque and a cash award given for excellence in one or more of the theatre arts. The Admission Office Student Volunteer Senior Excellent Award entails a plaque awarded by the Admission Awards Committee to a senior at Ripon College who has demonstrated significant volunteer contributions through outstanding dedication, dependability, personal character and service to Ripon College and the Office of Admission.

Lee is the child of Dr. A. Daniel J. Lee and Mrs. Julie Sikkink Lee of Vancouver, WA.
